FACTS & FIGURES

Picture
Materials:     6061 Aluminum, primed and painted

Weight:         Leave one crew member ashore and you will be about the same weight as your current rig

Racing:       The Flying Lateen was not designed to be a racing rig, conversely, as soon as there are two or more in your harbor, it is a racing boat

Cruising:       Single handing or sailing with an inexperienced crew, it simply can't get much simpler

Costs:           The cost of your sails will be the same as your current sails. The rig itself will depend upon size, of course, and the extras you want to incorporate into it. Conventional sail handling, i.e., standard halyard launching, reefing and striking, is straightforward. Roller furling adds and motorized roller furling adds more. Distance and size affect freight costs and rigging installation, particularly if a yard is involved, must be considered too.

So figure perhaps $1,000 for the smallest and simplest, perhaps $5,000 for a 30 footer with all the extras, exclusive of the sail, freight and handling per the above and you'll be close.
